The beautiful big Hashimoto Avocado is not sold commercially or on a large scale in New Zealand They are grown organically and are spray free. They originate from Guatemala. They have a thick 'shell' and its harder to tell when they are ripe. Its peak season for these now so they are big and beautiful. A lovely mild smooth avocado flavour.
To tell ripeness: If the stem falls off easily, and you can stick a knife down the stem hole and if there is no resistance. You know its ripe.
These Hashimoto Avocados do not go brown like the Hass Avocado.
